How Much Caffeine in Half Caff Coffee? Here’s the Answer!

There are many ways to eliminate the caffeine content in a coffee bean. Processes done on coffee beans eliminate almost 97% of the caffeine. Most commonly, exposure to water, carbon dioxide, and other solvents is the easiest way to bring down the caffeine content.

Very importantly, though, these processes take away the essence of coffee. If you have a habit of drinking a strong and full espresso shot, you are most probably going to miss the taste of coffee in your decaf.


So, what’s the solution? People who are required to consume less caffeine should take note. A Half caff coffee comes as a viable solution for you. You can keep enjoying the coffee taste you adore while consuming around half the amount of an actual cup of normal coffee.

Take a shot of decaf and mix it well with an espresso shot. The result is your Half caff cup of coffee, with half the caffeine and almost the identical aroma and taste.

Did you know that decaf has just 2mg of caffeine? That is almost 95% lower than a normal cup of strong coffee. Contrarily an espresso shot has the full amount, around 80-90mg per cup. Mix both in equal proportion, and you get a Half caff, in which your caffeine intake is averaged down to just 50% of a normal cup.

Why You Should Consider Limiting Caffeine Intake

For a normal individual, researchers suggest a limit of 400mg daily in caffeine intake. This is the amount of caffeine you get from roughly four cups of coffee.

Other experts agree that 600mg is the limit. Exceed it, and you’ll start to see its adverse effects. While some days people feel the need to consume more caffeine, it is not advisable to make it a habit.
